FosterREG aims at enhancing public capacity at local, regional and national levels to plan, finance and manage integrated urban regeneration for sustainable energy uptake, through capacity building, promotion and articulation of effective multilevel coordination, and national as well as European network strengthening. These objectives will be achieved through public stakeholders’ engagement in joint analysis and knowledge development activities, as well as creation and dissemination of targeted training materials and activities across Europe. After the success of the collaborative analysis phase last year in the Netherlands, in the second half of the project the Dutch FosterREG partners have shifted the focus and attention to actual capacity building of public officers. From the collaborative analyses remained three national strategies to build further on. The first effort in the Netherlands was to call together again all participants who were actively involved in the formulation of the strategies, and to continue working on these, towards concrete implementation plans.

In Croatian national cluster, training activities (TAs) were planned with a great emphasis on the multi-level coordination. Stakeholders from different authority levels were invited to all major events in order to strengthen the communication between the particular levels of government, as it was one of the points requiring improvements.

On the 14th of March the Kick-off event of the Green Deal Gasfree district had place in the city of Utrecht.

TNO 1The event was organized by the ministry of Economic affairs and their executing agency (RVO), TNO and the NGO HIER klimaatbureau together. At least 80 participants were present during the event. The vast majority were policy officers from the over 30 partner municipalities, next to policy makers of national ministries and other governmental agencies. Other participants came from NGO’s, semi-government, umbrella organizations and a small set of private companies.
